A: We love getting kids started at six years old; their cognitive development, fine motor, and problem solving soar when they start an instrument early.
Six year olds don't quite have a 15 minute attention span yet for at home practices, and that's normal! We utilize Play-A-Story to bridge the gap. This six to nine month program meets each child where they are with 5-10 minute practices each day. Students study chord theory, song structure and work heavily on fine motor skills and development through story telling and motifs, creating a solid foundation for Simply Music!
All our students who complete Play-A-Story prior to starting any of our other music lessons have a greater success rate with their instrument of choice when they turn 7.
This applies to all disciplines, with the exception of drums - students may start drums at age 6.
